Tea bags are great to explore with children! Check out these amazing sensorial activities for preschoolers and early school aged children!
Tea Play Dough
4 tea bags (tea of choice)
2 cups of boiling water.
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp. oil (vegetable, olive)
4 tbsp. cream of tartar
Take the tea bags out in 15 minutes. Mix 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1tbsp oil and 4 tbsp cream of tartar. Then add the tea water. Knead into dough. Wonderful scent! So calming!
Keep play dough in a sealed zip loc or container. It should last 2-3 weeks..
Substitute : Gluten free flour
Dandelion Tea Play dough Sensory Tray
tea play dough (see recipe above - use dandelion tea bags)
floral moss or real moss
Have children make creations with the play dough, dandelions and moss. Great way to learn more about dandelions and moss!
Tea Smell Matching Activity
tea bags sorted flavours ( we used herbal teas)
small clear containers
In the containers, soak each tea separately in water. Have children smell the empty tea bags then the tea samples. Have children match the tea bags with the tea samples. Ask children what difference they see in the tea colours.
Have real herbs or fruits for children to smell!
Note: We explored with Lemon Ginger, Peppermint, Chamomile Nights, Licorice Spice herbal teas.
Great sensorial activity for children!

Use a clothespin to hold the tea bag if there is no string
